Guided Tour of the National Palace and Gardens of Queluz

From the palace interiors to the gardens, this guided tour offers an insight into the atmosphere of courtly festivities and celebrations, as well as the daily lives of three generations of the Royal Family.

Discover the Charms of Queluz

Built in different phases during the 18th century by order of King Pedro III, husband of Queen Maria I, the Gardens and the National Palace of Queluz witnessed many of the most significant events in 18th- and 19th-century Portuguese history, including the French invasions and the Liberal Wars. Its architecture and decorative details reflect the artistic tastes of the Rococo, Baroque and Neoclassical styles, which also extend to the gardens around which the palace was developed.

But how did the Royal Family spend their days? Why is the Don Quixote Bedroom called by that name? And how were the King and Queen's meals organised? These and many other questions are answered during this guided tour, led by those who know the National Palace of Queluz best.
