Guided Visit to the Nature Interpretation Centre

Discover the secrets of the Sintra Mountains on a guided tour of the Nature Interpretation Centre. Explore the region's geology, flora and fauna through interactive experiences and digital resources before setting out to discover Park and Palace of Monserrate.

The Secrets of the Sintra Mountains

Discover the Sintra Mountains up close, from their geological origins to the present day, exploring the people who once lived here and the creation of the Natural Park, which protects this unique natural heritage.

Step inside a tree to discover how it grows and why its leaves change colour in autumn. Which animals depend on trees for shelter and food? At the aquaterrarium, uncover some of the species that inhabit the mountain streams among rocks and vegetation – including some that are under threat. And above our heads, which birds soar across the skies?

The Nature Interpretation Centre is equipped with interactive digital resources that encourage visitors to explore and discover the many wonders of nature, revealing what is often hidden from view. At the end of the guided tour, Park and the magnificent Palace of Monserrate await you for the perfect continuation of your visit.
