Enjoy a visit in a limited group, discover spaces usually reserved for the full visitor route and experience sunset from the Arches Courtyard, with the ocean on the horizon. As the day draws to a close, the National Palace of Pena takes on a new atmosphere. After the palace closes to the public, this experience invites you to explore its interiors in peace and in a more intimate setting, discovering the richness of its spaces in a truly immersive way.
Throughout the visit, you will have access to the full palace route, including the Private Apartments, spaces that are not usually included in the standard visit. Without a guide and in a limited group, you can explore the palace at your own pace and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this after-hours experience.
The highlight comes at the Arches Courtyard, where you can watch the sunset over the ocean and see the landscape of Sintra transform as daylight fades.
A limited opportunity to discover Pena from a different perspective and make one of the last summer evenings a truly special memory.
What’s included
- Welcome at 6:00 pm at the Welcome Centre at the entrance to the Park of Pena.
- Transfer to the palace.
- Full visit to the National Palace of Pena from 6:30 pm, with access to spaces not usually included in the standard visit (Private Apartments), without a guide and in a group limited to 25 participants.
- Sunset moment in the palace’s Arches Courtyard.
- Return transfer to the Welcome Centre at the Park of Pena, approximately 10 minutes after sunset.

- Sunset: the opportunity to watch the sunset from the Arches Courtyard depends on weather and visibility conditions on the day of the visit. Even if the sky does not cooperate, the experience will go ahead as planned, although the landscape may offer us a different kind of spectacle.
- Limited capacity: each session is limited to 25 places. Depending on demand and the operational conditions of the experience, additional time slots or dates may be made available.
- Transfer times: these may be subject to minor adjustments depending on the actual sunset time and transport operations.
- At the end of your visit: we recommend checking public transport timetables in advance. Depending on the departure time, you may need to use a taxi or ride-hailing service.

- To ensure the smooth running of the experience and everyone’s comfort, it will not be possible to wait for participants who arrive after the scheduled time.
- We recommend planning your journey in advance, taking into account your chosen means of transport, so that you arrive at the meeting point in good time.
- Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded, except in the event of a change of date or cancellation of the experience.
How to get there
- The main entrance to the Park of Pena has the following coordinates: 38º 47’ 16.45” N 9º 23’ 15.35” W.
- Public transport: Bus no. 434 (Scotturb).
- Private vehicle: Private traffic is not permitted on the access roads to this monument. Visitors are advised to use hiking trails or public transport from the railway station, the historic centre or the peripheral car parks around Sintra.
- Hiking trails: Santa Maria Trail (starting in São Pedro de Sintra, 1,770 metres, 1 hour); Seteais Trail (starting at the Palace of Seteais, 2,410 metres, 1h30); Villa Sassetti Trail (starting at the Historic Centre/Largo Ferreira de Castro, 1,850 metres, 45 minutes).
- Parques de Sintra’s responsibilities are limited to the parks and monuments under its management. The company is not responsible for external circumstances, namely access routes and transport to the sites.
