Reptiles and Other Fauna of the Serra de Sintra
A peaceful and educational experience, ideal for those who enjoy nature, observation, and small yet meaningful discoveries in the great outdoors.
Discovering the Reptiles of Sintra
Summer offers an excellent opportunity to observe reptiles in their natural habitat, at their most active during the warmest months of the year. Among stone walls, fallen branches, and riparian vegetation, lizards, geckos, and snakes find shelter—species that we invite you to discover.
But that's not all!
On a route that crosses the pleasant Park of Monserrate and climbs through the trails of the forest reserve, we will also encounter other groups of animals, including birds, amphibians, insects, and small mammals that inhabit the Sintra Mountains.
Accompanied by biologist Francisco Aguilar, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to identify some of the most representative species of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and gain insights into their behaviour, diet, reproduction, and ecology.
This activity is designed to promote observation, knowledge, and appreciation of local biodiversity.
