Raúl da Costa + Samuel Mariño - Soul and Song
Embark on a journey through the history of European song, from the Renaissance to the Romantic era, performed by Samuel Mariño and Raúl da Costa on the Clementi fortepiano of the National Palace of Queluz. A recital where heritage, emotion and music come together in an atmosphere of exceptional intimacy.
Soul and Song
From the intimate delicacy of John Dowland to the Romantic lyricism of Bellini, Viardot and Rossini, this recital traces more than three centuries of European song, revealing the evolution of vocal writing through time. Between the expressiveness of the Baroque, the elegance of the Classical period and the emotional intensity of Romanticism, each work offers a different musical expression of love, melancholy, longing and contemplation.
Male soprano Samuel Mariño and pianist Raúl da Costa guide audiences through this journey in a dialogue between voice and instrument, enriched by the distinctive sound of the historic Clementi fortepiano from the collection of the National Palace of Queluz. The instrument's unique timbre adds an exceptional heritage dimension to the recital. Its sound world, closely related to that of the early nineteenth century, offers the opportunity to rediscover part of this repertoire through the tonal colours and balance for which it was originally conceived.
