Plant Stories: guided walk and botanical printing workshop

Walk through the Relic Forest of the Convent of Capuchos, discover plants and fascinating stories, and finish with a hands-on botanical printing workshop where you create your own sustainable tote bag.

Between Trees and Colours

In the Sintra Mountains, there are centuries-old trees that, throughout history, have been considered sacred and used as sources of food, medicine, and raw materials.

During a walk through the Relic Forest of the Convent of Capuchos, we will discover some of these unique trees and also explore wild edible and medicinal plants, whose traditional uses were well known by the friars who once lived there. Along the way, we will collect materials to use later.

After the walk, it will be time to unleash creativity in a botanical printing workshop — a technique that combines art and sustainability while promoting the appreciation of natural resources. We will explore the natural colours of plants, talk about fibres and pigments, and create a unique, sustainable tote bag to take home.
