After exploring the interpretation centre, climb to the panoramic balcony, accompanied by a member of the Parques de Sintra team. As you gain height, the landscape reveals itself from a new perspective. From the balcony, feel the power of the wind and enjoy privileged views over the cliffs, the coastline and the vast ocean at the westernmost point of mainland Europe.
Commissioned by a royal charter issued on 1 February 1758 during the government of the Marquis of Pombal, Cabo da Roca Lighthouse began operating in 1772. It is one of the oldest in Portugal and the second-oldest lighthouse still in operation along the Portuguese coast.
Back outside, explore the different viewpoints and extend your experience with a break at the café. In a place that, for centuries, marked the edge of the known world, this visit invites you to witness the meeting of land and sea from a truly privileged perspective.

- Public transport: Bus no. 1253 (Carris Metropolitano) from Sintra railway station; Bus no. 1624 (Carris Metropolitano) via Cascais.
- By car: You can reach Cabo da Roca Lighthouse via the EN-247 from Cascais or from Colares.
- Walking routes: There are several marked walking trails from Cascais, Colares, and the Sintra Mountains.
