From the Forest to Christmas – Nature Walk & Natural Paint Workshop
What if the forest held the hidden colours of Christmas? During a walk through the Mata Relíquia woodland at Convent of the Capuchos, we’ll discover the natural pigments found in plants and transform them into paints to create two unique, handmade Christmas cards inspired by nature.
Brushstrokes of Nature and Magic
Did you know that leaves, oak galls, acorns, tree bark and branches found in the forest hide natural pigments that can be transformed into paints?
With Christmas just around the corner, we return to the Mata Relíquia woodland at Convent of the Capuchos, home to centuries-old trees that have been considered sacred throughout history and used as sources of food, medicine and raw materials. During a walk along the woodland trails, we’ll get to know some of these remarkable trees and discover wild plants whose traditional uses were well known to the friars who lived here for centuries. Along the way, we’ll collect natural materials that will inspire and provide the raw ingredients for the creative experience that follows.
Back in the workshop, we’ll discover how to transform these natural elements into paints, experiment with different pigments and create a palette of colours and shades inspired by the forest. Combining painting techniques with natural materials, each participant will create two original and unique Christmas cards to give to someone special.
An experience that brings together the discovery of natural heritage and traditional knowledge with creativity, celebrating Christmas in a way that brings us closer to nature.
