Palavra (De)Cantada: A Liberdade é um Poema

In April, the month of carnations, the National Palace of Queluz celebrates the revolution with Palavra (De)Cantada: A Liberdade é um Poema.

Freedom is a Poem

Perhaps it is not just one, but many poems that exalt this freedom so essential to life, without which art would not be possible. In this performance, Sandra Celas will personify this freedom through her voice and the interpretation of poems that have broken down walls and shattered silences. She will show that poetry is the freest of the arts, and the poet the most idealistic of rebels.

Poems from different times, eras, and elements make up the script of a unique performance in which the “word” is constructed and deconstructed through music. Sometimes it is the “poem” that is sung, other times the song that falls silent, leaving only the spoken word. The voice transforms into poetry, and poetry into melody, echoing freely in the space and in the hearts of those who listen and watch.

Throughout the performance, the audience is guided on a poetic and sonic journey, revealing a new way of experiencing the “Poem” and the “Poets.”
