Biologist for a Day
What if, for a morning, you were a biologist? Explore Monserrate and discover the secrets of nature through field observation.
Little Scientists in Action
In this activity, participants are invited to join biologist Mário Carmo in a hands-on citizen science experience that begins at the Monserrate Nature Interpretation Center and continues through the Monserrate Estate parkland. We will learn how to observe nature with a scientific eye, searching for and interpreting traces of flora and fauna, recording data, and using simple methods that are part of a real biologist’s work. Basic techniques of observation, recording, and interpretation will be explored—from identifying signs of animal presence (footprints, feathers, sounds, or other clues) to understanding how this data contributes to biodiversity knowledge and monitoring.
With a spirit of discovery and active participation, this hands-on workshop brings participants closer to the scientific method in the field, showing how curiosity, attention to detail, and collaboration help us better understand the ecosystems around us.
An opportunity to learn by doing, develop a naturalist’s eye, and discover how every observation can contribute to science.
